Varo String Quartet presents their third genre-bending concert at the Horatio N May Chapel in Rosehill Cemetery, featuring works by Nicole Lizée, Maria Kaoutzani, Tonia Ko, and Felix Mendelssohn. This collection of works from the 19th century to the present has been carefully curated to both terrify and delight, exploring ideas of mortality and transformation through the string quartet medium. Pairing Mendelssohn’s furiously melancholic sixth quartet with contemporary works by Lizée, Kaoutzani, and Ko, VSQ will draw audience members in with their signature selection of surprising and spooky sounds. For an evening of Halloween-themed classical music that will challenge your ears and send shivers down your spine in equal measure, look no further!
